FAA Knowledge Test
|
|
Before we can
schedule a date with an FAA Examiner for your
practical test, you will need to pass a computer
based FAA Knowledge Test (sometimes called the
written test).
It is important to remember, as you study for
the knowledge test you are building a solid
foundation that will help you prepare for the
"real" test - the oral portion of
the FAA Practical Test.

When To Take
the Knowledge Test
|
|
(The following
Excerpt is taken from the FAA's Pilot Handbook
p. 1-22)
The knowledge test is more meaningful to the
applicant and more likely to result in a satisfactory
grade if it is taken after beginning the flight
portion of the training. Therefore, the FAA
recommends the knowledge test be taken after
the student pilot has completed a solo cross-country
flight. The operational knowledge gained by
this experience can be used to the students
advantage in the knowledge test....

Where To
Take the Knowledge Test
|
|
A good location
at our airport is Mid Island. You can call them
on 631-588-5400. If you are an AOPA member,
be sure to ask if there any discounts!
If you would like to search for other places
that may be closer to where you live or work,
you can search
by zip code on the FAA website.
Be sure to ask them what you will need to bring
with you:
- Logbook endorsement from you instructor
- Photo ID
- Plotter, E6B (some electronic versions
may not be allowed), etc.
